He is Risen! Alleluia!

Three things...

Dear Friends,
It is with gratitude and true joy that I wish all of you a Blessed Easter Season in the company of Mary, the Mother of Hope. I like very much a page from our Founder’s writings, from a letter he wrote to the Institute on March 28, 1978. It is about the Gospel of John 20:11-18, where he highlights three moments in the Resurrection of Jesus. He points out that our lives also ought to have three moments that the Gospel of John teaches us.

First, Mary Magdalen seeks the dead, but Jesus is alive!  When her senses first take notice of Jesus, he remains a stranger. When I search for God, I must seek the God of the living.  This, for Father Faccenda, was the theology of hope: suffering, death, burial, resurrection.

Second, she recognizes the risen Lord when Jesus calls her personally and says to her, who knows how to believe and love, “Mary!” Echoing Jesus’ call, she cries out, “Rabboni!” It is not I that calls God, it is God who calls me, and calls me to life, faith, Christian vocation, and the Consecrated vocation.

Third, Mary tries to hold on to Jesus, but the Lord says, “Go to my brothers and tell them, I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”  I can’t hold God to myself for my own pleasure, because the Son is in the Father and in the Love of the Spirit to call all people to salvation. My energies call me to be a docile instrument of that redemption, to tell my brothers and sisters – both close and distant – that Christ died and rose from the dead to save us.

I invite you dear friends, to 1. Seek the Living God, 2. Listen for the Lord who calls you by name, 3. Do not be a afraid to give witness to the Resurrection, the Good News of Christ! You are in our continued prayers. God Bless you,

Anna Brizzi (local directress)
