Father Kolbe Volunteers of the Immaculata

"We, Fr. Kolbe Volunteers of the Immaculata, are a secular group, choosing to live the lay vocation, associated to the Institute of the Father Kolbe Missionaries of the Immaculata.

A group of Volunteers

After a two-three year period of formation and a special consecration to the Immaculata in the spirit of St. Maximilian Kolbe, we are associated to the Institute for life.

Remembering the gift Jesus gave us from the Cross, the gift of his Mother, we welcome Mary into our lives so as to live with her, and like her, to seek God's will, striving to live our baptism to the fullest degree.

Our strength comes from the total offering of ourselves to the Immaculata, an offering which we renew each day so that every facet of our lives - work, joy, sorrow or illness becomes a precious gift to the Blessed Mother.

We pledge to live a life consistent with Christian values. Father Kolbe's example teaches us to make charity a priority in our lives and reminds us to repeat daily that "Only Love Creates!"

With the Missionaries we share a genuine, deep love for the Marian and Missionary apostolate, working in every possible way to make Mary known, loved and imitated so that, through her, we may lead all people to God. In other words, we deeply desire to help every person, every acquaintance we meet on our journey, to encounter God in the heart of Mary.

The methods of participating in the works of the Institute are varied and differ from member to member, depending on the talents and abilities each possesses, along with each person's availability. These activities might include participating in parish spirituality events, conducting MI family village groups, assisting with retreats, summer camps, fund raising events, mailing missionary literature, production of graphics and printed materials, as well as prayer support for missionary and volunteer requests or even the possibility of spending some time in a foreign mission.

Each does what he or she can according to their availability, responsibilities to family or employment; but each with the same love and joy because we all feel we are a living part of one spiritual family that lives, prays, works, offers and suffers for the same ideal - the salvation of every soul.

Motivating ideal

Our Marian Mission charism, a gift of the Holy Spirit, is based on the testimony of Christ crucified and the spiritual heritage of St. Maximilian Kolbe. It is characterized by three strong ideals which constitute the objective for our way of life and for the world:

We want to be an influence in this world
corrupted by hatred, violence and despair.
Like St. Maximilian, we hope to bring a ray of light to humanity.
Throughout his life Father Kolbe was an example of supreme love,
and today, he continues to teach and emphasize that "Only Love Creates".
We want to be a source of hope, joy, peace and love.
We want to be Mary's instruments,
allowing her to use us to achieve God's will for each of us,
for the Church and for the world.
If we learn to place ourselves in her hands,
through the daily offering of our lives,
she will heal the world and make the will of God prevail.
(Marietta Caputo - Italy)
