Brazil

Bandiera del Brasile

Brazil is considered the fifth largest country in the world (3,287,597 sq mi), the fifth most populous (about 191 million inhabitants), and the largest country in South America.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Brazil, as all of America, experienced a great migratory influx from all of Europe, which contributed to a considerable increase of the population and to the economic development of the country.

However, we can say that three main groups gave birth to Brazil: the indigenous, divided in 220 tribes, with their respective languages and traditions (today they fight to keep their land); the Portuguese, who colonized the country; and the slaves from Africa, who left a strong imprint in the culture as well as in the religion, especially in the North-East of the country.Brazil is presently one of the first largest economy, outdone only by the United States of America. Its territory holds extensive natural resources and is one of the largest industrial areas in the world.
