The Holy Rosary is a very simple prayer. It is accessible to all and unites families in a very special bond.
It consists in repeating 50 times the salutation of the angel Gabriel to the blessed Virgin Mary, opening each decade with the Our Father and a meditation on the life of Jesus as announced in that particular mystery. The Holy Rosary, in fact, is a summary of the whole Gospel.
Twenty mysteries of the life of Jesus and Mary are offered to the prayer and meditation of the faithful: the Joyful Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries.
These mysteries lead us to reflect on significant Gospel passages that are also connected with our personal life. They make us deeply aware of our involvement in the history of salvation as it unfolds before us in the contemplation of the life of Jesus and Mary.
“Simple yet profound, it still remains, at the dawn of this third millennium, a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness.(…) With the Rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depths of his love. Through the Rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer.” (Rosarium Virginis Mariae, 1)
